Julia from Preloved demonstrates how to make a scarf from old jumpers, in this easy to follow upcycling project from Tuja Wellness.
This is a great reuse for any jumpers that have got holes or stains as you can reuse the sections that haven’t been affected.
It’s also a good way to reuse what’s left of a jumper after using it to make a beanie hat – click here for that upcycling tutorial!
The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled scarf are shown below.
- 3 – 5 old jumpers / sweaters (these should all be the same or very similar weight / thickness of the knit)
- Card /paper pattern template
- Serger or sewing machine
Did You Know?
The average UK household owns around £4,000 worth of clothes and about 30% of it hasn’t been worn in the last year? We also bin 350,000 tonnes of used clothing every year – that’s equivalent to the weight of more than 29,000 London buses!
