Gadget Trish, has put together a very useful tutorial showing you how to upcycle records into a shelf. I think these look really cool and I definitely will be trying this one!
If you want to cover the back panel of the shelf, instead of gluing on another record (as suggested by Trish) I recommend using velcro. That way, if you need to unscrew and remove the shelf you can simply pull the record away from the back panel and access the screws easily.
You can buy sticky velcro tape or if you already have some velcro without the sticky backing you could glue that to the record and the back panel.
- 2 small records (singles / 45’s)
- Concealed bookshelf – size 5 x 5 x 5 1/2″ (13 x 13 x 14 cm) You can buy these online at Amazon and eBay (at a slightly cheaper price than the manufacturer Umbra.
- Black spray paint (Trish recommends semi-gloss or satin)
- E-6000 Adhesive Glue
- Rubber gloves
- Spray paint respirator mask
Have you tried this or have you made a shelf out of something other than records?
