Korduroy.tv brings us this really cool upcycling tutorial that shows us how to upcycle a beer bottle into a glass. The finished product looks really great, especially when you start off with a bottle that has a really interesting print / design.
The scoring with the glass cutter does require a bit of patience as does running the hot and cold water over the bottle!
NOTE: Sanding glass should only be performed in a well ventilated area and you should wear protective eye wear and breathing safety equipment (such as a carbon filter mask).
Sanding glass can make silica airborne and if you breath this in it can cause a serious health issue called sillicosis. I recommend that you use wet and dry sandpaper – that way you can wet the glass whilst sanding and reduce the chances of making the silica airborne.
The materials and equipment that you will need to do this are shown below.
- Empty beer bottle
- Masking Tape
- Glass Cutter
- Sandpaper (wet & dry sandpaper is recommended when sanding glass)
- Large pot / kettle
