Handy Home Hints demonstrates how to make an upcycled Halloween jack o’lantern from tin cans. This is a fairly simple project and is sure to add a spooky atmosphere to your Halloween festivities!
If you wanted to do this with the kids you could use acrylic paint instead of spray paint and it’s probably safer if you punch the holes in the can for them!
Before punching the holes, try filling the can with water and freezing it. The frozen water will help the can retain it’s shape, whilst you are punching the holes.
Also sit the can on a folded towel, this will help reduce the movement of the can.
The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled halloween jack o’lantern are shown below.
- Tin can
- Orange paint / spray paint
- Wire (for the handle)
- Black marker pen
- Hole punch / nail
Did You Know?
In 2004, 55 billion aluminium cans were landfilled, littered or incinerated. That’s 9 billion more than were wasted in 2000. It’s enough cans to fill the Empire State Building twenty times!
