BlueFoX0903 has a great idea for what to do with old cassette tapes – make them into a cool purse.
I love this upcycling project, and can’t wait to try it although… the gluing of the 2nd part does look a bit tricky! I must admit, I prefer contrasting colours on cassette tape purses as it makes the cassette element pop much more.
Check your local charity shop for old zippers and remember that you can also dye zippers different colours (that won’t change the colour of the metal teeth, perhaps a sharpie pen will).
The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled cassette tape purse are shown below.
- Old cassette tape (try finding ones that have the small screws)
- Acrylic paint (optional – for clear cases)
- Scrap fabric
- 10″ zipper
- Glue sticks
- Small screwdriver
- Paint brush (optional)
- Hot glue gun
- Fabric chalk
Did You Know?
UK women spend more than £1.6 billion on more than 500 million items of clothing they will never wear. Placed on a clothes rail, the great unworn would stretch 15,534 miles. That is equivalent to four and a half times the distance between London and New York.
