Make Homemade Christmas Ornaments From Lightbulbs

Claire from BunnieClaire shows us how to make cute homemade Christmas ornaments from light bulbs.  The light bulb snowmen are very cute and would be a really fun upcycling project for the kids.

Claire used a spray adhesive for this but I have made one using a white PVA craft glue and it works perfectly. I also used acrylic paint instead of puffy paint.

Since I’ve actually made one of these I can’t resist sharing a photo of my snowman…!  This was a clear bulb, I think the glitter coverage actually turns out better using PVA glue.  I finished mine with a small piece of ribbon (the hanger ribbon cut from a top) and I used a clear nylon thread to hang this.

The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled light bulb snowmen ornaments are shown below.

  • Light bulb
  • Spray adhesive or white craft PVA glue
  • White glitter
  • Twine / string
  • Paint – black and orange
  • Bowl / container
  • Tray or a piece of paper to catch the glitter
  • Paint brush (if you are using PVA or craft glue or a paint bottle without a nozzle)
Did You Know?

Energy efficient light bulbs are a type of fluorescent lamp and can be recycled at local recycling centres. Older style ‘incandescent’ bulbs aren’t recyclable.
