How To Make An Upcycled Pop Pop Boat

Dave Hax demonstrates how to make an upcycled pop pop boat  (or put put boat) out of an old juice carton in this video.

I love this project, it’s such a cool idea and would be great fun to make with the kids. ¬†Imagine how excited they (and let’s face it… you) would be when the boat starts moving as a result of the simple little boiler – genius!

The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled boat are shown below.

  • Aluminium drinks can
  • Juice carton
  • 2 straws
  • Blu-tack or epoxy glue
  • Sticky tape
  • T-light candle
  • Waterproof acrylic paint (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Ruler
  • Pliers
  • A bowl with water
  • Stapler
  • Paint brush (optional)
Did You Know?

It can take anywhere from 80 – 200 years for an aluminium drinks can to decompose in the environment.
