Upcycled Stuff demonstrates how to make tshirt yarn, in a continuous strand. You’ll end up with one long piece of yarn if you pay close attention to how the yarn is being cut.
I love how the tshirt fabric curls inwards when you stretch it out, it gives the yarn a lovely finished look and it’s so simple to do!
The materials and equipment needed to make tshirt yarn are shown below.
- Old t-shirts (preferably without seams down the side)
- Rotary cutter (or scissors)
- Self healing cutting mat
- Pill bottle
Did You Know?
Most of the waste produced in the UK ends up in landfill sites, which poses a threat to local ground water supplies. Every time it rains, water drains through all the rubbish and picks up chemical and hazardous materials. This includes chemicals used in clothing and textiles such as dyes and bleaches.
