Upcycle A Jacket By Adding Contrasting Sleeves

In this video Lizzie Furniss, from Stitch 2 Wear shows us how to upcycle a jacket.  Lizzie adds contrasting sleeves and studs to give the jacket a completely new look.

I like that that the old sleeves are retained and the new one’s are added on top – does that make me lazy? 😉

You will need basic sewing machine skills to undertake this upcycling project.  The materials and equipment that you’ll need to refashion your jacket are shown below.

  • Old jacket
  • Contrasting fabric
  • Thread
  • Studs (optional)
  • Pattern paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine
Did you know?

In 2013 only 10% of Singapore’s textile and leather waste was recycled – that’s 16,300 tonnes.  Leaving a whopping 140,300 tonnes to be sent to landfill or burned.
