How To Upcycle Drink Cans Into An Organiser / Caddy

Christy shows us how to upcycle drink cans into an organiser / caddy in this latest upcycling project.  It’s a great upcycled storage idea!

She was inspired by her 13 year old nephew Carlitos, when she saw the upcycled pencil holder that he’d made out of a drinks can.

I felt that Christy’s introduction was a bit long as the actual tutorial starts at 1.26 – you can skip forward to that point if you want to see how it’s made.  There’s no vocals on the tutorial part but she does provide written prompts on-screen to guide you.

I like the coiled handle detail on this, I might make a slightly smaller version of this to hold some of my upcycling tools and supplies!

The materials and equipment that you’ll need to make your upcycled organiser are shown below.

  • 6 empty drink cans
  • 16 gauge wire (circa 24″)
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Can opener
  • Punch pliers
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pliers
  • Pen
Did you know?

Both aluminium and steel are easy to recycle and there are huge environmental benefits for doing this – yet many cans still go to landfill. If we recycle more cans we can reduce the amount of raw materials needed to produce new products.
