Musical Lampshade Makeover – Upcycling Idea

Rachel from Patturn demonstrates a musical lampshade makeover in this video. Rachel has been creating unique lighting designs since 2010, covering lampshades with vintage papers.

One of the most popular styles has been the vintage music notes, and she’s very kindly shared how she does it.  I’m going to have to try this one at some point!

The materials and equipment that you’ll need to do your musical lampshade makeover are shown below.

  • Old lampshade
  • Old sheets of music
  • Flour and water (or glue!)
  • Matt polyurethane (Rachel used Cabothane)
  • Scissors
  • Paint brushes
  • Container for the glue mix
  • Baby wipe / cloth to wipe any excess paste
Did You Know?

In 2010, paper recycling in the US had increased over 89% since 1990. If every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we could save about 25 million trees each year.
