How To Recover A Lampshade

Mark Montano shows us how to recover a lampshade in this upcycling video.  I love the fabric that he used, it’s such a lovely colour 🙂

After watching this you’ll know what to do the next time you see a tired looking or damaged lampshade, to give it a new lease of life.

I know it’s a bit sad but… I was excited to see the hot glue gun that he was using!  You might be able to see it in the picture below.  It has a fine tipped nozzle and I had no idea that they existed… (thank you Mark for introducing me to them!)

Hot glue guns can be notoriously messy, often dispensing slightly more glue than you actually need.  I am now the proud owner of one fine tipped glue gun (thank you K).

The materials and equipment that you’ll need to revamp your old lampshade are shown below.

  • Wire base lampshade
  • 1 yard of fabric
  • 2-3 yards of ribbon
  • 2 yards of trim
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
Did you know?
